Reconstructing the Maya legacy: A joint effort by Dark Ranger Telescope Tours and Block Moulds
Dark Ranger Telescope Tours is bringing a fascinating piece of history back to life: the El Caracol Observatory from Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico.
This iconic structure, used by the ancient Maya to observe the stars, is being faithfully reconstructed – and it’s not just any replica. This project merges history with modern engineering techniques, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
At Block Moulds we provided several types of moulds to recreate the observatory’s unique architecture: moulds for big interlocking concrete blocks, moulds for paving slabs, and custom-made moulds specifically for this project. With produced modular concrete blocks and slabs, the observatory can be built quickly and efficiently while also keeping the authenticity of the original structure. This collaboration represents a meeting point between the ancient and the modern; history and technology.
Once completed, the observatory will serve as a central attraction in Dark Ranger Telescope Tours. Visitors will not only learn about the ancient Maya but also experience the observatory’s connection to modern stargazing, making it a unique destination for anyone interested in the history of astronomy. And for Block Moulds it’s an opportunity to showcase the versatility and precision of our custom engineering capabilities.
This design concept illustrates how this unique observatory complex will look like. At the center is a replica of the Caracol, a circular tower built atop a platform, serving as a main stargazing hub. Company Block Moulds created custom-made moulds specifically for this circular structure to ensure authenticity with the original building.
Stay tuned for updates on this incredible journey. See universe’s wonders and get enthralling and authentic stargazing experiences through through BIG telescopes in the darkest/best stargazing location in USA -Utah’s Bryce Canyon region. Visit Dark Ranger Telescope Tours.
